trouble downloading limewire 4.18 on OS X 10.4.11

I have OS X 10.4.11. I had a firewall on my version of Limewire so attempted to uninstall and then reinstall it to solve this problem. However, when I try to download Limewire 4.18 I receive the following message when asked to choose a destination volume to install the limewire software: "The chosen volume contains software which is newer then the software you are installing. Installing this software will replace the newer version with an older version." I choose the continue, and then I receive a message saying, "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install."

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You need to remove the newer install limewire.pkg file from the Receipts folder. See example image & description here: Receipts folder sample image. Then you will be able to install 4.18 :)

hi, i have the same problem and have tried this solution but i do not see install limewire.pkg in my receipts folder. i have tried removing all trace of the old limewire from my macbook but still no joy. i also tried d/loading the 'old' limewire to an external hard drive and then copying it across to my hard disk, but it will not open. Help!

ok don't ask me how...but it's sorted. i think the tip for other users with the same problem is to search for and remove all traces of the previous LW prog, empty trash, and try again.
