Which version of LW are you trying to run? LW 5 does not run on Tiger OSX 10.4 You will need an older version; LW 4.

The two requirements of LW 5 for Mac OSX are an intel computer made within past couple of years, & Leopard OSX 10.5 or later so it runs Java 1.6

Default lw4

sorry about that.

LW 4. I had Limewire originally and then unbeknownst to me, I got rid of 4 to upgrade to 5, only to find out the whole Java problem.

I've seen a few of your posts LOTR. I read and then tried your suggestion of going into System Preferences to change Sharing, but it didn't work. So any suggestions would be great.

cheers

So you made an exception for LW in the OSX firewall?

Disable Ultrapeer capabilities. Also try disabling some of the other options suggested here in advanced settings: If LW 4 Will Not Connect (click on the blue link) If necessary, restart LW after making the changes.

What brand & model of router are you using?

Default that's the prob

I didn't make the exception and I think that's where the problem may lie.

If the exception was made properly, should not be any problem. You can edit the firewall rule. From memory, (without rebooting my old computer) you can set port ranges. Simply put a wider range of port ranges. Example, port 1000-65535 instead of a specific port. Keep in mind the exception is only for limewire. In this way, it caters for a router that uses UPnP & changes listening port each time LW is opened. I cannot remember whether Tiger OSX 10.4 asks for a port number(s) or not off-hand. I know Panther OSX 10.3 did. No need to specify ports with Leopard 10.5

Default hey

Hi,
Just to let you know what I've tried on my Mac.

I went into System Preferences>Sharing>Firewall and changed the number range 1000-65535. That was in the TCP. The UDP port number is 6346.

Nothing yet.
