If using OSX 10.4, you are limited to LW 4. You have choice of LW 4.18 or below. I normally recommend LW 4.16 but that's up to you. :) LW 5 requires Java 1.6 which is limited to (1) OSX 10.5, and (2) a reasonably new intel machine (within last 2-3 years depending whether it's a macpro or imac or macbook.)

To get LW 4.16 see Downgrading to LimeWire 4 from 5 & resuming incomplete downloads. Just discovered LW have stopped supplying an old versions page.

Ignore that advice about LW 5. Simply install the LW 4.16 version. :)

Repair permissions after installing. ie: Utilities -> Disk Utility. More efficient way of repairing permissions is via a safe boot. But no matter. Let us know how you get on.

If still problems, try setting up a Test account, easy & quick to do, then see if LW opens from there. Setting up a Test Account in OSX (click on link) :) (extra accounts are easy & quick to delete also, faster than setting them up in fact.) ;)

Sorry man but here I go again, the thing is that I wasnt able to try till now, I have intalled the LW 4 version and when I open it says something like this (I will try translate from spanish):
"Your directory for save files is not valid. It's possible that it got deleted, that you dont have permission to write on it or another problem, choose another directory"...that's more or less what It says...(sorry for beign a pain :bangh:)

I'll try what you said in your last post

Check permissions on your user directory & LW save folder (ie: select the folder, command i to get information, check at bottom of information window about permissions.) Might be some issue there. Might also be worth repairing permissions with Disk utility.
