iTunes Conflict Suddenly I am unable to play CDs with either iTunes or Audion. Any attempt to play a CD results in a system crash and will immediately crash again upon restart. The only change I've made recently is to upgrade to LimeWire 2.3.3. I am running o/s 9.1 on a G4 with plenty of RAM and extra allocated to all applications. Has there been any report of a LimeWire conflict? Or has LimeWire rendered CDs obsolete now? |
Go into LimeWire options and deselect "Use LimeWire mp3 player". zbell:D |
iTunes Conflict? Under Options I find: Saving Sharing Speed Downloads Uploads basic slots Connections Chat Shutdown Searching Limit Quality Speed Filter Keywords Hosts Advanced Preferencing Port But no .mp3 player in the Mac version. |
my apologies - the OS 9 version of LimeWire doesn't have the player included. you should really see if there is an extension conflict that is causing your music applications to crash (the only extension LimeWire relies upon is the MRJ Libraries extension). simply installing LW will have no effect on whether your music applications will play - it is just a filesharing application, not a music-management application. zbell:D |
Try moving a file named 'CD Remote Programs' in the System Folder:Preferences to the desktop. This file contains titles that you can enter for CDs. It gets used when you mount a CD; it might be corrupted. |
iTunes Conflict Resolved Bingo! You have no idea of the awe I have for your know-how. That's to be respected, but I shouldda remembered that in pre-X, the one cure that fixes everything is "Trash the Preferences file, and a new one will be automatically generated." I merely went to the last change I made before the problem's onset, and that was LimeWire. Many thanx |
