Why doesn't ANYTHING work?????

I downloaded Limewire and nothing works, it won't connect ( and I have file sharing turned on) and when it finally does, for a few seconds, the searches don't come up with anything. What's the problem???????

I"m having a similar problem, I can't find a way to save my downloads and play...plus the FAQ and help section is no help at all! Good luck, hopefully we'll both figure it out!

If you do finally get a download, which i assure you you will, I have a mac and have downloaded planty of times. But if you do, all you have to do is click on the "library" section at the top of the limewire window, and your download will appear there. Click on the now downloaded file once, then take your mouse down to the bottom where it says "load" and click on it. your computer will use the apppropriate application to open your file. easy!

problem no. 1: the two of you have different problems.

first guy - are you behind a firewall, router, proxy server? are you connecting from home, school work? what type of modem are you using? have you run the telnet test, to see if you can access the Gnutella network?

second guy - your downloads are saved in your Shared folder (go to LimeWire options and click Sharing in the left column). use a third-party music player to play music files, like iTunes or QuickTime, and remember that LimeWire is not a music-management application. once you download the files, play them in iTunes or QuickTime, just as you would any other music files.

Having File Sharing switched on is probably not a good idea. It will be open season on your hard drive once you sort out your connection problems. Only share the files you want you by identifying folders in LW options. Keep file sharing switched off.

If you are talking about the File Sharing control panel and not simply shared files in Limewire:

Limewire is unable to access File Sharing, which is done through Users and Groups and Apple's own protocol. I suppose if you had unrestricted access (i.e., guest with no password) in File Sharing, then a clever but evil Mac person who figured out that you had a Mac and then figured out your IP could access your computer and those files which you had designated as shared (you do that through info., command+i for a folder, drive, or file).
