What About this Spyware

Well I probably should have Done more research and read more about this product before installing it, but since I didn't, I have a question concerning the spyware that was bundled with the free Mac version.

Soon after installing & in the middle of a download I checked the monitor feature to find a connection labled incoming. while this connection was active, my Hard drive was chattering away. Now, none of my audio downloads show a "Connection Incoming" while I'm receiving them which would seem to me to be a logical assumtion that it would since the download is certainly an incoming connection, but they don't. This incoming connection seems to be totally unrelated to whatever I'm doing with the software & this activity on my HD has me worried.

Information from Limewire about this Spyware is vague & un-informative.
I would like any & all information concerning this so called spyware budle & what it can or can't do with my computer. I am phrasing this as a demand for LimeWire techs who may or may not monitor this forum, and as a poilite request for information for knowledgable users of LimeWire posting in this forum.

Without some detailed & verified information concerning this stuff, I will probably reformat my drive & trash all this stuff never to install it again.

Any Help please?

Have you read through previous threads? I'm pretty sure there's a whole bunch of discussions, information, etc on spywares and the like.

Yes! I have done some searching through this forum. Most of the posts seemed to be generally complaining about spyware and not specifically addressing what Limewire's bundled spyware is doing once it's on my computer. As far as some of the links go, I looked at a few, but again various complaints about, or justifying the presence of, spyware.

Limwire put it here, let them tell me exactly what it's for and what it can or can't do. I shouldn't be forced to scrounge through 2nd & 3rd party web sites to piece together information on somthing they bundled with their software.

Once again, that activity /w a connection labled incoming occurred & I manually removed it from the monitor window, but what the heck is it??!!!

Anyone with any answers?

I can't remember exactly what they are called now, but in your Limewire folder there are two items you can trash: "ads" and "cookies" These might have ".doc" or something like that as extensions. (They are in the "Lib" folder in Limewire folder) After reading threads in the "Open Discussion" forum, I realized they could be deleted without harming the program. No more ads! :D

Oh yeah! According to the other forum, the spyware is only in the Windows versions, not Mac.
