Blocked Port

Hello,

The ports normally used for Limewire have been blocked by my university. Is there any way around this? I have tried to change the port numbers, etc. but don't know what other numbers are the right ones...

Please advise,

thanks

David

Are you sure the ports are blocked? Most universities just block the public host caches, so you don't find any hosts to connect to...

And a workaround for that would be to get the ip addresses of ultrapeers somewhere and try to connect manually (or find a recent gnutella.net file and try connecting using it.)

Using this one, I just succeeded connecting to gnutella without using a public host cache. - If it doesn't work, I guess the ports (very likely the destination ports 6346 and 6347) might be blocked indeed and there is no workaround for that, maybe except for connecting via http proxy. But LimeWire currently doesn't support that.
