"Limewire Document"

I have downloaded a couple programs and they were downloaded as "Limewire Documents". How can I open a Limewire document?

Thanks

there is no such thing as a limewire document. you probably got your file extension settings mixed up a bit.
what file extension (the ppart after the . ) do the files have??

They are .sit and .dmg files, but when the dowload is completed they are stored as "limewire documents" rather than "Stuffit Expander" documents. When I try to open them, my Limewire program launches and nothing else happens.

you have a mac right?!

atleast .sit is a mac file format... If you have windows you don't have a chance to open it.
I know the LW developers were working on the problem of launching files with the right program on mac. I'm not sure how far this is worked out. I guess you should just open your file compression tool and open the .sit file through it. I'm not sure about the .dmg file.

The problem with useless Limewire Docs have persisted with this client for what seems to be a year or more (see Limewire Developer's note that it may/may not be fixed with version 2.0 elsewhere). We're still counting right...

The problem seems to be more persistent with large files (for whatever reason) and the fix of changing creator types only works with some files, other remain, as mentioned usually LARGE, piles of junk. To try the creator type trick, get ResEdit and open Get Info to change. Hacked up versions available elsewhere; Apple's old one at http://www.download.com.

Now, Limewire Pro can't be beat for value, even if you only manage to land one "backup" or listening file, but man are they useless or lazy for not being able to fix this PROPRIETARY problem.

Somehting better will come along real soon and then it's bye, bye to Limewire.
