what are some programs to listen to songs in for mac? I can't find a good program to listen to and orginize songs in for mac, can anyone help me out? :) What do other mac user hear use? I have system 8.6 so i can't use itoons:( Thanks for the suggestions |
I use MusicMatch Jukebox. Seems to work well enough for me. :D |
Programs for mp3 music on Macs I have used Macast (www.macast.com) for several years and love it. I currently have over 26 hours of music on it. I don't know whether or not there is a limit. It costs about $20, but is well worth it. The e-mail support is very good. It has a nice features, like a place to put data on each selection (artist, song, album, date, etc.) plus a place to add song lyrics, or whatever else you'd like to add. |
There is a patch available to make iTunes 1 (not 2) run on 8.6. Should be at versiontracker. |
Wow, I didn't know about this! My performa at work should be very happy to hear the news. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/5401 |
this itunes patch sounds cool, but i couldn't find it on that site. could you give me alittle more direction? :) thanks Also, i dounloaded winamp for mac, which is alright but i'v heard itunes is much better. Anyone eles have winamp? if so, what do you think of it? |
Hmmm...I can't find the 8.6 iTunes patch at versiontracker, either. They've done away with their advanced search for some reason. I do know, however, that such a thing exists. I'll try to find out more for you. |
??? Did my link not work? I've tried it just now, and it went right to the download sight... Hmm.... http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/5401 Try again. Hope it works. |
Macamp I use itunes for mp3 , but for other formats like ogg vorbis - which some people swear by - I use Macamp. http://www.macamp.com/macamp.html It hasn't got the same facilities as Winamp, but there are a good range of plugins available which add the ability to play other formats which itunes can't handle. |
Thanks for the link manny's_mad, I just didn't notice it the first time :) I dounloaded the patch... so now all I need is itunes 1:).... as the last thing, can anyone tell me where it can still be dounloaded? At cnet and apple.com all they had for dounload was version 2. |
You can always try Limewire :)! The easiest would probably be to find someone who has a slightly older Mac. iTunes 1 will be on their install CD. |
Macast I'm going to have to throw in a vote for Macast, too. I have Macast and iTunes on my G4, but I never use the latter. Macast is just so much easier to use, and it just sounds so much better. I've been using it forever-- it's definitely worth the price, and it makes me a very, very happy camper. And no, I'm not on the payroll. |
