Cannot play downloaded files

:( Hello,, I am unable to open downloaded mp3 files.... Always worked before but having problems now... Information on file show it as "Text" file. No mpe3 player will recognize or open.. Limewire program will not open file...
Whatz up!
Mac system using Beta program...
