CDs

When I start up the limewire program, it tells me to insert CDs. It asks for
two or three at once, asks for CDs I no longer have, and won't do anything
else except ask for CDs as soon as it is activated. It also ejects CDs and
then asks for the same ones to be re-inserted. When it says "insert Audio CD 1" or "CD2" or "CD3" how do I know which ones those are? What do I do? How do I make it stop?

LimeWire does not interact with CDs.

Hello!

ajutagir I have seen several posts on this forum regarding this ghost phenomena. It sure is a strange problem.

Fortunatelly most mac users have no problem with LimeWire including myself but a few have encountered this really strange problem. What happens is that LimeWire will ask for a cd to insert it can be any cd I have seen posts regarding the insertion of Quake cd's,Earthlink cd's etc.Ofcourse LW has nothing to do with any cd's so that is whats so strange about it.

Whats worse is that it seems to be a sticky problem.I have seen users that have posted here that started to have this problem with one version and therefore stopped using LW and then several months later decided to try again with a completely new version of LW but still during launch encountered this error message again so it does not seem to be related to any particular version of LW.

EZ I must ask you have you ever installed a different cd-rom driver other then Apples standard driver for instance Joliet Volume Access 1.4.2 or another?

I think this problem happens when a CD or other 'removable' disk is mounted while the installer is run. I don't remember anyone saying that he fixed the problem and the exact solution. Somewhere in the System Folder or elsewhere is a file that needs to be deleted but I don't know which one in particular.

zbell gives a few suggestions in this post; hopefully all of those steps aren't necessary.

If anyone figured out which particular file to remove do share.

No new/non-apple drivers for the CD drive.

I have noticed that if I have a CD in the player, it often starts to spin on its own when LW is running. My guess is that it has to do with the way in which LW interacts with the finder. When the finder updates the desktop it routinely scans all volumes, including the CD. I would imagine the glitch is somewhere in this process.

I should also add that it makes me VERY nervous having a Java app. have this much control over the finder...
