2.5.3 Pro-Library sees just a few subfolders, pgm *slowly* finds a few files to share Hi all, I just installed the 2.5.3 Pro update. Now when I run LimeWire Pro, it shows "0 files" for 20-30 seconds instead of immediately starting to share files. When I look in the Library tab, I see my download folder, and only the first few subfolders, and none of the files at the top level. When I add another folder to share, sometimes it replaces my download folder in the Library display. And, as above, I only see the first handful of folders and files. I've tried de-installing and re-installing, to no avail. Any ideers? Thanks! |
the new LimeWire takes a longer time to hash shared files at first startup. If you are sharing big files, hashing them can take several minutes. |
If this delay is from hashing, why aren't there any hash numbers anywhere when that option is enabled in the menu? All those people can't be using earlier versions of LW or some other software. |
Another bug in LimeWire the hash won't be shown in the search results, you have to do a bitzi weblookup to see the hash. |
What good would hash and "bitzi" web searches (what an idiotic name!) do if that info. isn't incorporated into the structure of LW? What I am concerned about is that Limewire will eventually be able to use hashing info. to download identical files with different names and stop trying to download different files with almost identical names and size. I can't imagine how much this would decrease network congestion...I know I have downloaded gigabytes of partial files only to complete a download under a different name. |
LimeWire is not actively making use of file hashes yet. That's one of the things I changed in my modified version. I modified the IncompleteFileManager to create the temporary filename from the sha1-hashes (if available) so files with the same hash will always be swarmed from. I also modified TableLine.java to group search results in the search window only if they have the same hash. http://mitglied.tripod.de/mdsgeist/LimeWire.zip |
Tja, ich bin und bleibe bei Mac OS 9.2... I think those are wonderful additions to LW, not to mention the ability to zap Morpheus UP's automatially rather than turning it into a tiresome video game. However, with Mac OS 9.2, I am unable to avail myself of your wonderful changes unless you can figure out a way to make it work on Mac's antique MRJ. |
