Question Where'd everybody go!

I like to watch the statistics feature in limewire sometimes and something wierd happens sometimes. It will say for instance: 78,526 files online. Sometimes when I hit "Update" That number drops to lets say: 2,177 Files online. What gives? Did everyone on Limewire have a meeting and say "Hey, lets all get offline at the same time! That way, Shane will get confused and frustrated that his once downloading song has now stopped, and he will go type some dumb message on some forum somewhere!" I don't get it. Any clues???

With ultrapeers, those statistics are wildly inaccurate. But you will find that the numbers generally go up when 1) you have been connected to hosts for a longer time and 2) when those hosts are Limewire, not Gnucleus or Morpheus.

Your search results -- a far more important number -- will be directly proportional to the number of stable LW hosts you manage to keep in the face of the Morpheus flood.

Default Limewire -vs- Gnutella / Morph Connections

This drives me nuts as well. I spend more time dumping Gnutella and Morpheous connections to try to get Limewire connections than anything else. Still love my Limewire though.

Are there any suggestions on how many "approximate connections" to use? I use 4 as a setting now but soley based on a guess.

To solve this one problem alone I would pay for Pro.

Thanks!

Your maximum number of connections is determined by the internet connection speed you list in the preferences, though you have to set this number manually when you connect or after disconnecting for any period of time. Except with really fast connections, however, it is hard to maintain this number and have a bunch of downloaders at the same time.

You can get your max by typing in some outrageous number. You get a little warning screen, but then you get the largest number available for your speed.
