Me Too-Unable To Connect HELP-Can't Connect Hi there. I am a cisco certified networking tech and former apple hardware gal. I was having no problems using Limewire, and was so HOOKED on it. Since I have upgraded to the newest version (Limewire 2.5.5), I am unable to connect to the system at all. I am running the basic Limewire version on an iBook loaded w/ Mac OS 9.2. I haven't had any known issues on the system (extensions and other have all seemed okay). The machine runs with an airport card thru an apple wireless hub connected to a surfboard modem (cable/dsl connection). I am really clueless as to why I can't connect. The software loads and begins to count the number of files being shared as 174. The top window bar, however, reads "Limewire Running the Guntella Network (Disconnected/No Files Available)". When I choose "CONNECT" from the FILE menu, under the CONNECTIONS tab, I see... router.limewire.com: 6--(status) Connecting--(protocol) 0.6 then nothing happens. The window where the router message was goes blank. When I return to the SEARCH tab, the number of shared files usually increases (like to 205) but the SEARCH (for music) button remains greyed out. I tried a standard install, then an uninstall, then a CLEAN install (with extensions off/reboot). No luck. Any tips? Tracey (MsTraceyMc@onebox.com) |
unable to connect all of the sudden As of yesterday 8-31-02 I am getting the same message No connection. I need to know why one night I was on just fine and the next I could not get connected? Patti |

Basically, I just moved to college and at first limewire wasnt connecting at all...now that im trying to connect to router4.limewire.com, it seems to connect for a split second (i see incoming/outgoing activity) and then immediately disconnects. i am on a mac, so i cant dl these programs i saw in other posts for kids in dorms, httport or totalirc....someone please help!? ive tried forcing IP, even that other thread with all the other servers. my god, someone please help us!? has anyone contacted limewire? |
nikonratm, See my reply to your post in Connections Forum. :D |
Julie, I really do appreciate it, but i already tried that, and still nothing?!?! well, i just wanted to add this, amybe it will help: i got so frustrated i tried to dl macstar, another client, and mactella. neither worked, but macstar actually gave me this (other than just "not connected"): "TCP/IP Error: An error occured making a connection to the query server. Please make sure you have an active connection to the internet and try again." I have an active connection (obviously)....argh! |
You've tried entering it directly in the Connections tab? Did you first click on remove to get rid of the one trying to connect? And then enter router4? If that won't connect, try some of the others in the list of the link I supplied. I think the connect4.gnutellanet.com is a good one, too. I'm sorry if it didn't help. Hopefully you'll get it worked out. |

this is like torture! i tried 208.239.76.100, and it works for a second, i get connected to a few more servers, then they just trickle away, and im oncea again disconnected...i never get more than 0 bytes/0 files available....so i guess this means its really not a connection problem? but rather a server im trying to get to? and julie, yeah, i tried all that?? any ideas?? anyone?? heeeelllllllppppppp :( |
