Limewire won't associate MP3's to Quicktime as previous

also to iTunes, work a week ago, I even went back to version 2.5.3, I also use to be able to preview Mp3's, not anymore! I wish they would get their crap together, heel i'd pay $30 for it if the thing would work right. Any help would be appreciated, Spence

Ok, I got it to download and actually work on one song, I thought it was fixed until now, it's up to it's old tricks again,

Last reply to my own post, now it works like everyother song, one is a blank un associated file the next a Quicktime file, weird!!!! Any advice?

Have you tried dragging the files from your shared folder directly into the iTunes window instead of double clicking them? For mp3s that refuse to appear in iTunes you can try the iTunes Associator fix beforehand. If the mp3 won't appear in the playlist after dragging it onto itunes Associator and then into the itunes window then it is corrupted and should be trashed.

If you want to be able launch from LW:

1. Open itunes

2. Go to Edit>Preferences>Use itunes for internet music playback

3. Click 'Set'

(this won't always work as some mp3s will have the wrong file type or be corrupted)

i'm sorry but not every file I've downloaded is corrupted, until i updated , i could preview the tracks via Quicktime, now, not a chance, all files are grey and non discriptive except for artist info, somewhere there is a conflict, i even went back to Quicktime 5 thinking that was it, also i went back to version 2.3, no go on that, I'm at wits end with this,

Any valid mp3 ALWAYS works after dragging it onto iTunes Associator and then dragging it onto Quicktime or into the iTunes window (note that I say drag NOT double-click).

If this doesn't work, it means that the mp3 is corrupted. I have never got any mp3s that didn't work using this method to work with any other. There have been several reports that there are a lot more scam/corrupted mp3 files on Gnutella (some placed there by record labels) so that could be a reason why fewer are working - especially if you are downloading commercial Top 40 tracks.

As a last ditch effort, you could try downloading another player like Macamp or Audion (do a Google search) and see if they work. You could even try burning the files onto an ISO 9660 (PC format) CD and trying them on a friend's Wintel machine.

I'm sorry I can't suggest anything else, but I've never had any problems playing back mp3s using the methods I've described (apart from corrupted files).

All of the stuff I download is somewhat obscure, I got Micheal Jackson's "Abc" to download just fine, I' was downloading Wilco, Son Volt 2 weeks ago just fine, something is wrong here, common sense says that I should still be able to download and that's not the case, i've tried every suggestion, and every theory, mine and others, to no avail, not EVERY FILE IS CORRUPT< is anyone else having these problems?

I was getting some MP3 files that would show up completed (OS9) as Quicktime, and then some would be blank file icons
that had only the song titles, etc. written beneath. I found out that if you retype the titles as shorter titles and type the
.mp3 extension on the end, then they magically (?) change into playable Quicktime files. Did you try that?
Problem I'm having now is that I downloaded the MacAmp player, and it seemed to be doing weird things, so I trashed
the whole thing. Now, half of my downloaded files complete as MacAmp MP3s (!!!???), which cannot be played
now unless I open and convert them from within Quictime (how tedious). Any Suggestions???????
