slow downloads. why?

Im using cable, and im getting dl speeds of like 1.6k/sec.

should'nt this be MUCH faster?

sometimes it goes higher, like to 6k/sec, but dont stay there long.

I'm using OS 10.2 as well, and am getting upload and download speeds higher than that, so I don't think that's the problem.

It depends a lot on who you're downloading from, especially if your web browser works at fast cable modem speeds.
