Exclamation 2.6.3 exceeding RAM allocation by 62 Mb!!!!

alright first off, I am an AASP. I'm running a G3 (400 MHz) Minitower OS 9.1 with approx. 420 Mb DRAM. When running 2.6.3 I get horrible lag and graphics stalls. The preffered memory allocation is set at 5000 Kb, however, in the ATC, it's showing up at 67 Mb and the OS is only using 55 Mb!!!!
I've ran every kind of software test I've got to check for any corroption in the Limewire .jar (Mac Test Pro; TechTool Pro; Norton 7; etc) to no avail. Any suggestions, please email me @ terpsichore317@mac.com. TIA - Chris

LimeWire is a memory hog. (Or is it the Java?) I've seen it use 100+ MB at a time. When I first upgraded to 2.6.3, I had forgotten to set the memory higher as previous versions usually crashed. I checked the "About this Computer" and it was using 72+MB out of the "73 MB allotted for it". I hadn't set it to that. In the Get Info for LimeWire, it was set to the default which was around 5 MB. Very strange.
