LW making unreadable MP3s, O Y?

After many happy weeks of downloading, suddenly LW leaves all successfully downloaded files in my shared file as blank paper icons, not mp3s, and won't play them from LW, or from the Shared file itself, which gives the message "could not find the application program that created document named ___" and suggests only Entourage, uselessly. I'd thought it was a memory problem but recently upgraded my RAM and files I discarded as useless were still big and MP3 sized. Why won't Limewire reward all this waiting around with useful files all of a sudden? I'm on a Mac Powerbook G3 series, using itunes from versiontracker, so far happily.

Solution to unreadable Limewire downloads

Solved my own problem with those unspecified app LW downloads that won't launch from the LW library and appear in Shared as blank white paper icons. I simply moved the files onto the desktop, clicked once on the file, then go to File menu, then Get Info, and then change the file name to end in .mp3 (sometimes have to delete some of the existing text of the filename). The files changed to Quicktime MP3s on the desktop. Open up itunes and go to Advanced/ Convert to mp3 and click on one of your newly renamed files. Da-dah, they work in itunes. And like a good Limewirer, I remembered to drop them back in Shared. Hey, it ain't perfect, but it gets there in the end. Hope this helps other new users. C
