GIVE MY 2.6v BACK!!!

Hello there.
Well, apparently, I'm not the only person havin' trouble vith LW 2.7v.

I dowloaded that new version today, and, now, I can't enter tne network. It's tellin' me to pass to LimeWire Pro, and, no yes, no or later button to go through.

Why don't you put a "Old Limewire Version" menu in your website? It's totally impossible for me to find the older version back! Well, hope all bugs will be very very very soon repaired. I talked about LimeWire to a lot of Mac users. Some of them even bought the Pro Version. I can understand that you don't care about "no paying" customers, but I did a lot of adds on my own way for yar software.

Hope having good news very soon from you!

How to enter the network with 2.7.3 version

Well, I wrote taht message, because havin' problem to enter the Network. Finally found where the problem was!

I wanted to install the French Basic Program. And it doesn't work. But, I tried to install in English, and now it's working. Think the prob is a translation's one. The French text may take more place in the window, that's why the buttons didn't appear in it.

I didn't try with other international version, but the prob may be the same with other language. So, install the English version and you won't have any prob entering the network.

Best Regards.

LimeWire has an FTP site where all (except Pro) versions/languages are stored. Inside each version folder you'll find language and platform choices. Try it! http://www3.limewire.com/download/

I had exactly the same problem with the french version and I didn't know what to do. Your solution works great.
Thanks

2.7 Upgrade a Disaster! How do I get my old version back?

I was running an old version and was relatively happy with it. Then a dialog box came up when I booted it yesterday with some urgent language that told me I MUST upgrade. I downloaded and installed 2.7.3 which proceeded to freeze three times, hang my system three times and, when it actually DID run it ran slow and failed to respond to commands.

How do I get my old version back????

Two things.

First: If you read up two posts above yours in this thread, you will see a link to the older versions of LimeWire. For my own purposes, I keep the previous version in case there are problems in the newer one.

Second: LimeWire goes through a hashing process with your files. It takes some time. During this time, it will run very slow and freeze up. Leave the program running, but Disconnect from the network. Let it sit and do its thing. I mean walk away. It takes a long time. When you see the correct number at the bottom for shared files, it should run normally.

Updated Version not "doing it's thing"

Sorry. Took your advice and waited a LONG time. Several hours. The Shared Files number arrived at the total contents of the folder and the app still runs VERY slowly and can not find any files -- unless there's no one on the network with any Elvis files to share.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a great idea and I am extremely greatful for the opportunity to access gnutella with my Mac. I would gladly pay the money and upgrade to Pro if I could get this release to work.

Well, now that the files are hashed, that's one thing out of the way. If you give some information about your system, memory, etc. that might help too. Others may have some input. I set my memory high for LimeWire (50000 K) Others think it's fine at around 5000 or 10000 K. Regardless of what you set it at, it uses up alot of memory. But leaving it at the default can cause it to freeze and run slow. Buttons disappearing and such. Give that a try. I'm sure it will eventually work itself out.

p.s. That's why I said to walk away while it's hashing. It takes a LONG time. ;)

2.7 Troubles

Thanks Julie. I have increased memory to 50000. I'm running OS 9.1 on a G4 with a gig of RAM.

I have found with each version of Limewire, it runs worse and worse. If I could find a better alternative I'd never look at Limewire again. I am not impressed with it at all.
