Unregistered November 15th, 2002 09:36 PM

Guess I'll keep on working with DRUMBEAT instead.

Unregistered November 16th, 2002 01:33 PM

Have to re-install 2.6

I have the same problem with 2.7 and the java error. I was actually going to purchase the PRO version, but now that I see that doesn't work either I'm not going to.

I had to go back and re-install 2.6 to get it to work again.

Too bad. Limewire is missing out on money from Mac users. No one is going to pay $10 for something that won't even install.

Unregistered November 16th, 2002 02:02 PM

Just installed the newest version of LimeWire for OS 9 (Mac). It installs fine.

But when I go to run the program I get message saying "Unable to locate the application's "main" class. The Class com.limegroup.gnutella.guimain must be public and have public state void etc.........

Any ideas? It sounds to me like a bug.

Unregistered November 16th, 2002 05:43 PM

This may help

I searched for a different download. I downloaded version 2.73 and it works fine. Here is the link:
http://allmacintosh.xs4all.nl/preview/248054.html

it is a sit file not a bin...maybe that has something to do with it?

Limewire startup Fielure

Java problem. Last two upgrades. Mac OS 9.1 G4 Upgrade 400 Mhz.

dib1066 November 16th, 2002 06:26 PM

No help

well... no help from the folks at LimeWire. No answer, no response to emails. Nothing on the forums.

Explain to me why I upgraded to pro and supported this mess? If everyone is getting the same error message there's obviously a major problem. Now what? I have to fork over 100 dollars to upgrade to OSx in order for them to care about giving me support here?

This is nonsense

Unregistered November 16th, 2002 08:39 PM

yep, same problem. I upgraded from a working version, and now have nothing.

Unregistered November 16th, 2002 11:44 PM

Hey guys! I feel your pain but our friend above did find a (Temporary) Solution version 2.74 at the link below does seem to work without this problem we've all seem to be having! Good luck! http://allmacintosh.xs4all.nl/preview/248054.html

Unregistered November 17th, 2002 12:09 AM

I too have had the same problem. I was beginning to feel guilty for only using basic, free versions of internet software. The apparently pathetic response to this major problem restores my faith in being a cheapskate.

wake up please limewire!!!!

Unregistered November 17th, 2002 11:13 AM

my limewire was working fine on the 16th morning time... but after that i couldn't open it anymore.....? damn!! there must be something in there program that has a bug OR ,,i don't know i need this to be working so guys please if u get any info please reply here....

Unregistered November 17th, 2002 11:38 AM

GOT PRO TODAY AND NOW HERE'S ANOTHER ONE WITH THE JAVA PROBLEM !!!!!!!!!!!

Unregistered November 17th, 2002 12:00 PM

same java error

well we have all done what we could do (new mrj, bought the pro version, etc.) and all of us are stuck. it would be nice if someone from limewire would jump in here and freakin help!

Hellllllllooooooooo?! Is anyone at limewire listening?

Unregistered November 17th, 2002 12:46 PM

Me too

Java error after trying to install the latest version. If anyone thinks I'm gonna shell out a tenner for the Pro version they're off their rockers.

Absolute cack.

dib1066 November 17th, 2002 01:02 PM

limewire AWOL

Well.. since this topic is on several forums and all I've seen are post complaining about the error... I'd say no. There's no one at LimeWire paying attention.

Unregistered November 17th, 2002 01:38 PM

Yup! Same problem on Mac GE running 9.2.2.. Any solution?

Unregistered November 17th, 2002 04:02 PM

Java Error

I am getting the same Java error and I JUST had the latest basic version and it worked and then I went and uninstalled and re installed and it doesn't work! PLEASE HELP!

dib1066 November 18th, 2002 06:17 AM

So...

Someone from LimeWire contacted me to tell me to uninstall everything of LimeWire. Reboot. Download a new installer from the LimeWire Pro page (yes I paid to have this happen to me). Reinstall LimeWire.

So I did....

Lo and Behold! The same damn error message

Well.. that wasn't helpful. Has anyone from LimeWire even bothered to respond to any of the forum threads?

doroszi November 18th, 2002 07:13 AM

I got a response!

Yes, that's right! I got a response. But to get it I had to find a link to "Customer Support." I stated my problem, and also said there were about 25 (at the time) others screaming with the same problem. It was late and I forgot to state my OS and replied to them with that. I waiting to hear their reply.

The link, I believe, is on Gnutella's home page or maybe Limewire's. But to be perfectly honest I'm not really sure. It was late and I had to look for it.

If you should decide to email customer support, be nice. I know your frustrated as I am, but the chances are the person that responds to you is an employee and not the CEO. They could decide to take their lunch about that time or something.. You know what I mean.

If I get a positive reply I'll post it here.

Good luck!

As promised, here is what Customer Service had to offer and (IT WORKED!); I got this response from customer service:

"Please try the following:
-Uninstall all versions of LimeWire, using the Uninstaller in LimeWire's folder.
-Trash all LimeWire aliases and installers from your desktop and Apple menu.
-Reboot your computer.
-Download another installer, using your download url.
-Reinstall LimeWire Pro."

After reviewing other threads I noticed some of you were resolving this problem as well. All I know is that this recommendation worked and I'm happy! Hope it works for you too.

Good luck :)

Unregistered November 26th, 2002 06:52 PM

tried uninstalling and restarting and all that.. still stalls on "loading user interface" i knew i shouldn't have updated...

Unregistered November 27th, 2002 05:53 AM

I tried downloading from the "allmacintosh" site. Installs fine but still doesn't work, not with OS 8.6. Still get the fatal java error message....

Good idea to pretend you are a dozen of persons having the same problem, who coicidentally sought this forum on the same day. Anyway I have the same freaking problem, and no sollution. At first the program did work, even the same version. So please help me, and this person who allready posted 12 times or something ;-)

java error ppl try this....

i had the same problem and couldnt figure any of it out, so i went to gnutella.com and downloaded it there and it worked for me.....is that what all you did? or did you get it from limewire.com? or a download place? by the way i have an os 9......so try going directly to that site.....on the page at the top you'll see a very light gray box, in it you will see 4 steps, hit step 2, it will give you 3 options windows, linux/unix, and macintosh....under each it gives you a list of downloads, under mac hit limewire, beware of the pop ups, it will give you a bunch of stuff but on the right it will say click here to download, do it, it will ask you to select a download, hit either mac or mac osx, which ever you have, it will say download limewire for mac, then 2 options primary and alternate download sites, with each it says download, hit download, i used primary and it should work, try that, if it doesnt work, i dont know what else to tell ya, sorry....good luck.....email me if you want to blinddavis27@metrocast.net
