Try the download from this link. It's a SIT file instead of a BIN. I'm not sure if that makes a difference but I've installed it and there is no java error.

a lot of frustrated people out there, so just wanted to add that i just installed this version from

like the other guys and it worked. for whatever reason the version which is a .bin on download.com and on limewire's own site gets the java error just like everyone else.

After all the hassles, this .sit download worked for me too on OS 9.2...

Great site! All this time, I thought it was me. Thank you very much for solving this mystery. I can't wait to get home and try this.

i just tried it and i get an error:

"Unable to launch java application... blah blah"

I tried downloading from the "allmacintosh" site. Installs fine but still doesn't work, not with OS 8.6. Still get the fatal error message....

This has worked for me too on OSX!
