Lightbulb Fix For Never-say-die Setup Wizard

If you go into your Preferences folder, then open the .limewire folder, and, if there is a FOLDER named limewire.props, DELETE THAT FOLDER. The next time you open Limewire and run the setup wizard, the program SHOULD install a FILE named limewire.props. After that, you shouldn't have any more problems with it. I just tried it with 2.7.9 and it worked. I just downloaded 2.7.9 today, and I am using the free version.

You downloaded 2.7.9 basic for OS 9??? I'm getting goosebumps! It works? No Java error or anything? Serious?

No, really, I've been waiting until I hear enough people say it works before I try it. Hope to read more posts that it's actually working for all OS's.

Talking Everlasting Wizard Fix

Thanks the fix - worked a treat - I shall miss the wizard - we have become very close but it will be a whole lot less frustrating to use LimeWire now. I used the fix on the latest version of LimeWire Pro

Default WIZARD BEGONE!

Oooo. Daddy like. This was with 2.7.3. I guess I could try 2.7.9 one more time. I've encountered the missing class everytime. Any fix for that?

At least I can go back to a working 2.7.3 if 2.7.9 fails me.

thanks for the tip.

Default Joy Joy Joy

Daddy REALLY like. I'm finally Wizard & Java Error free AND using 2.7.9 Basic.

Why, I haven't a clue. But here's how it happened;

I was stuck using 2.7.3 with a reoccuring install wizard, because any version after that game me the Java Error "Missing Class...". I rid myself of the wizard as per the above post, I then intalled 2.7.9 (No VM from http://www3.limewire.com/download/) right into the 2.7.3 folder without running the uninstaller and bingo, no wizard, no Java error... and 2.7.9 works. Finally. I think my mistake was running the uninstaller/installing 2.7.9 fresh into a new folder/not correcting the Wizard glitch first, which one? I dunno.

Wierdness, this whole thing. I've never had problems like this before with LW.

Well, I installed 2.7.9 no VM. I didn't have to go through the set up wizard on first run. But, I still get the Non Fatal "Translator Settings" error. But, it worked. My shared files sure loaded fast. No more hashing? Anyway, I haven't run any searches yet, but we shall see...

yay!!

Talking Yay! You're Right

Huzzah! Finally good advice. Thanks so much! And now I don't even get that yucky window saying LimeWire has a bug.

Default Thanx for the input!

Thank you all for the input. I was hoping that I wasn't the only one who that would work for

As for the non-fatal error, it popped up the first time I installed 2.7.9 over the previous version I had (not sure which one that was) and I submitted it to bugs@limewire.com, then clicked ok, and haven't seen it since. Maybe it had something to do with that props folder/file glitch.... Regardless, I am glad it worked for all of you

Yes, I was able to install and run 2.7.9 basic, using OS 9.1, and the only problem I have is that occasionally my computer will lock up whenever I am trying to download something... I think it has to do with the fact that I am running only 152 Meg of RAM and 512 Virtual Memory. Has anyone else had this problem (this was a problem when I was running 2.5.something as well)

Your virtual memory is way too high. Even at twice physical RAM it would still likely slow down operation.
