Cannot move to Library?

Occasionally, a file I'm downloading will say 100% and the status will be "Cannot move to Library". Is this a program wide bug, or am I just being stupid?

No, you're not stupid.

I am having the same problem, especially started with the version 2.8.2. Now, I installed 2.8.5. Lets see what will happen with it.

Dear stung4ever and cuneyt

I get the same message occasionally. Did you ever find out what the message means / is caused by?

Cuneyt December 27th, 2002 06:19 AM

As you know, LimeWire keeps the downloaded files in the Incomplete folder until completed. When the download completed, LimeWire should move that file from the Incomplete folder to the folder which you set as Save Directory. While the Incomplete folder and the folder which set as the Save Directory are at the same disk, LimeWire just moves the completed file from the Incomplete folder to this folder. I suppose, the Could Not Move To Library message means that LimeWire could not move this file from the Incomplete folder.

But, the weird thing is that the LimeWire gives this message before the download completed. The percentage is becoming %100 *suddenly* and we get that the famous Could Not Move To Library message. I don't understand why LimeWire tries to move a file; which was not completed, from the Incomplete folder.

The good thing is that the LimeWire generally does not give this message for truly completed files.

FYI, I tried 2.8.5 and nothing changed.

thanx for reply

cuneyt

thanks for that, though there doesn't seem to be a solution at the moment. I had noticed that the downloads were not complete when the message appeared and that truly completed downloads do not suffer the problem.

I'm also using the latest version from Limewire (for Mac).

Actually, this failure has only happened to me when attempting fairly hefty downloads, like 200mb ish.

Hmmm...

This maybe a good catch.

LimeWire might be doing something that requires more memory while or just before moving the files from the Incomplete folder.

Now, I increased its preferred memory to 4 MB. Lets see what happens.

Thanks for all the replys.

I still haven't figured it out, but it seems to happen under 2 conditions:

1. Big, 100+ meg files (games, movies, etc.).
2. Limewire has to go through a file path to get to the file I want (haven't tried it in 2.8.5 yet, though), however, in this case, the cannot move message comes up immediately, before it has a chance to try to download.

Cannot transfer to library

having same problem, but with files around 80Mb. Please post solution whenever discovered.:(

Have had the same problem but only on a few occasions. Whenever this has happened, I "kill the download" and then click on the "Library" tab then the "Incomplete" folder. Find the file that would not move to the library and highlight it. Then click the "Resume" button and it should start to download and as you will see it is not finished yet.
Before you kill the download remember how big the file should be when complete and when you go to the "library, incomplete" folder it will not be that big.
Yes, it sounds like some kind of glitch in the program but this is the first version that I have ever experienced it in (2.8.5 PRO) and whenever I have killed and then resumed it has always finished the download and then moved it to the right folder.
