bitrate

why, when i download mp3's, if there is no bitrate shown, it will connect and display 0 percent, then status says "requery sent, waiting 299 s" counts down and sort of stalls out?

Also if i try to download programs bitrate doesn't show and the same thing happens?

how critical is the bitrate to show?
