LimeWire Pro Causes Strange Problems

The Free version worked fine for 7 months although it was slow to download. Thinking Pro might be faster, I paid for it. It won't configure correctly and opens a Welcome Wizard with no buttons to click.

I've read a lot of posts from users who had a version which worked and then upgraded and have odd problems with disappearing or partially visible windows; windows with no buttons java error messages & other things.

The worst part is that once LimeWire malfunctions, it continues to do so despite fresh installations and downloads.

Good luck, and keep us posted on what you did to correct the problem, if you are able to do so.

Try increasing the ram allocation to LimeWire . . .

I, too, have had the fatal experience of clicking OK on an unsolicited offer to upgrade LimeWire Pro one day when I launched Limewire, using Mac OS 9.2. LimeWire's response was to "reinstall the old software" ---Unfortunately, the upgrade version uninstalls the previous version, which worked fabulously. Repeated attempts to re-download and install are met with the same result. Installer log reads all items installed successfully, but when I launch, I get "Welcome to the Limewire setup wizard. LimeWire will guide you through a series of steps to configure LimeWirefor optimum performance." at the top, and no clickable arrows or boxes to move to the next step.
And, yes, I increased the memory size. Any suggestions that might get me back on the network are appreciated. rpeters@peterboro.com

Well...totally start from scratch. Wipe everything with the word "Lime" in it from your harddrive. Re download it fresh, and install. See what happens.
