Microsoft entourage?

Hi,
I'm running a Mac with 9.1 os through a cable modem. I've been on Limewire for a year or so. Lately, when I download a file it goes to my shared folder and as usual I double click. But, now instead of a nice quicktime player, I get microsoft entourage!!!!
It opens with the new file as an attachment for an email and it asks for an address? I've tried emailing to myself, detaching it, copying the original, convert (which does work but eats up tons of memory)
The file is there in the shared folder but evrytime I try to open it.....Entourage. Any ideas.......Juke123

Looks like Entourage remapped the type/creator code. I think Control Panels->QuickTime Settings can remap 'em back, or try
Control Panels->File Exchange->.mp3, etc
to get a "change" button. Do post back with the solution to help others.

Hello!

The procedure that stief describes is explained more in detail in this old thread that I participated in:

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=12351

The posts are about iTunes but the same technique is applied when assigning Quicktime the proper formats.QT should be assigned the following formats:

aif(AIFF),,avi(vfw),dif(dvc!),dv(dvc!),flc(FLI),fl i(FLI),gsm(GSM),kar(Midi),m15(MPEG),m1a(MPEG),m1s( MPEG),m1v(MPEG),m2s(WAV),m2v(WAV),m75(MPEG),m75(WA V),mid(Midi),mid(WAV),midi(Midi),midi(WAV),moov(Mo oV),mov(MooV),mpa(MPEG),mpe(MPEG),mpeg(MPEG),mpg(M PEG),mpm(MPEG),mpv(MPEG),mpv(WAV),qcp(celp),qt(Moo V),qtl(qtlk),rts(RTSP),rtsp(RTSP),sd2(sd2f),sdp(SD P),smf(midi),smi(SMI),smil(SMI),sml(SMI),vfw(VfW), vob(MPEG),

If any of the above formats/exstensions is not assigned Quicktime on your machine then you should change it.

Hello!

I am already a subscriber to the mailing lists since a couple of weeks. Normally I am quite happy in trying out Beta's and I have a separate partion on my HD assigned for that purpose. But this particular beta I consider to be a little bit to risky. I think I will wait untill the 3.0 release this time that will be a full official version.

still Entourage

Thanks for your suggestions for solving my Entourage problems. I did try to set the Quicktime settings in the Control Panel. Still no luck.
Here's what I have done. I use SoundApp to convert the files away from Entourage then I can import them in to Quicktime. It takes a lot of time and eats up valuable memory.
It's very puzzling. Why did it just start happening? What can I do to stop it? Anymore ideas out there?
Thanks, Juke123

Did changing the File Exchange Control Panel settings not work too?

Entourage and File Exchange

Steif and Others,
I have been working on my Microsoft Entourage launch problem using Limewire (see previous posts). I have gone to control panels>file Exchange>MacAmp and changed Macamp to Quicktime, so far it hasn't happened again. Special 'Thank you" to Steif for the reminder and the help.......happy sharing to alll........Juke123
