Hello!

The .DMG files are from Mac OSX and are Disk Images( the equvivalent to .IMG for Classical Mac OS). Usually they contain apps for Mac OSX and are not usable by Classical Mac OS users. However in some cases they are and if you want to know how to open them after they have downloaded then read my post in this thread:

The Launch button launches the downloaded file with the proper application for instance mp3 files will be Launched by iTunes if you have set iTunes to play your mp3's or a Mpeg video file will be Launched in Quicktime etc. If your download speed is fast enough and if you have a fast Internet connection then you can even play a file while it is in the progress of beeing downloaded thats kind of cool.

To open a downloaded app just drag the file out of LW's shared folder to the desktop and drop the file ontop of your Stuffit Expander alias icon which should be on the desktop and you will get the installer.

As a modem user you are not restricted to downloading files from other modem users instead you are able to download from every speed option such as Cable/ADSL or T-1 to T-3.

Regarding LimeWire!. It is not a site and it has nothing to do with the Internet. Instead it is a Gnutella client. Gnutella is a networking protocol that enables users to be sharing files between eachother and if you participate on Gnutella you should ofcouse also be sharing files yourself and contribute to it while using it.
