Fatal Application Error I have installed and re-installed the new Limewire and every time i try to launch I get a Fatal Application Error saying Unable to launch Java Application. I updated to OS 9.2 on my mac, installed MRJ 2.2.6 from Apple and still no luck. Below is the details from the fatal error. java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main at com.zerog.lax.LAX.launch(Compiled Code) at com.zerog.lax.LAX.main(Unknown Source) at com.apple.mrj.JManager.JMStaticMethodDispatcher.ru n(JMAWTContextImpl.java) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java) I've done many restarts, desktop rebuilds and run a utility with no luck. Any ideas on what I should do? Thanks! Eric |
I get the EXACT same problem! |
I am having the same problem also. Is there anyone that has the old version or is it not useable? maybe this is a ploy to get us to buy it... |
ya mine was working fine till i "upgraded"....>:( eric |
same here same thing here. ive downloaded and uninstalled it twice. i only wish i hadn't thrown out the old version. |
Hello! You should not have upgraded to MRJ 2.2.6 it is made only for a specific purpose namely to make Mac OS 9.2.2 capable of communicating with Oracle servers. From Apple's site: "Important Information: MRJ 2.2.6 is an upgrade to MRJ 2.2.5 which provides fixes that allow Oracle 11i client applications to communicate with Oracle's application servers over HTTPS. It is recommended that you only update to MRJ 2.2.6 if you need to use Oracle 11i client applications over HTTPS and that your Oracle software is properly configured to support HTTPS communication with Mac OS 9 clients." So downgrade back to version 2.2.5 and see if it fixes the problem with LW. |
Fatal error Same thing with me. I sure wish I wouldn't have upgraded. Anyone know what we need to do? Thanks |
SAme thing on MRJ 2.2.5 I'm receiving the same error message as everyone else, except my MacOS 9.2.2 G3 Mac is still running MRJ 2.2.5, as far as I can tell. I guess I won't be accessing LimeWire anymore. |
same problem with MRJ 2.5.5 Yup, I am getting the same error message, and I am running MRJ 2.5.5. |
I have the same problem , surely someone must have an answer to this ?? |
Hello! Are any of you perhaps using a language version other then English?. Use Sherlock 2 and search for LimeWire then delete everything LW on your system except the Shared Folder ofcourse. Now download the International English version that includes a copy of MRJ and then install that one. Now install LW and during installation LW will ask you(if you are using a version prior to 2.2.5) if you wishes to also install MRJ select yes to that question (or no if you already have it)then proceed with the installation and then after the installation go trough the set up wizard and then LW should function normally if the problem where related to the other language version or your old MRJ. |
Ive done that No help.... still getting the "fatal application error" message. Limewire was nice while it lasted. To good to be true. Im beginning to believe this "must upgrade message"is a ploy to get people to buy the pro package. I wish I would have left WELL ENOUGH ALONE, and not tried to update. I don't think there is going to be anyone out there with a fix. |
download old versions here |
that link does that link work for anybody? |
OLDER VERSIONS OF LIME WIRE Yes it does. I upgraded my Mac to the newest version and it would not work. So I went to this site and downloaded the older version I was using. It works as well as it ever did. The new update(2.9) was giving everyone a "Fatal Application Error". The older versions past 2.6 work fine. Go to url http://www3.limewire.com/download/ and download your old version. |
thank you! it worked this time, thank you kindly. |
Add me to the list. Just purchased 2.9.8 and get the fatal application error. |
same problem as everyone else i'm having the same problem as everyone else, after upgrading to Pro and my MRJ software. It's good to know that the limewire guys are raking in the cash and no-one can use the damn software following their advice. Come on guy's get it together and tell us when you plan to let us know about a patch/upgrade so that we can actually use the software we all paid $9.50 for. |
Thanks sonox25 Had the same problem. Just speculation on my part, but has anyone heard anything about a record company buying Limewire? Hmmm. |
man all we get are pointless tips on how "it might work" but there's no definite help. could someone at least reassure us that they're looking into the problem? or is there any other form of support? frankly by just making us delete the .limewire pref file or doing this or that won't help as can be seen by the overall majority. either they sort it out or reimburse us for this. |
Sonox25's link in his 2nd post worked!!! I d/l'ed 2.9.7 and even w/mrj 2.6.6 it works fine!!! Limewire 2.9.8 is good...FOR ME TO POOP ON!! Everyone, just d/l the 2.9.7 version! Thanks Sonox25!!! eric |
limewire not connecting this weekend yeah, i thought i read something recently about limewire being bought by a record company. and this weekend, i've been unable to connect to limewire. what's up? |
Version installer problems I had the same problems as everyone else with the new version. But when I download the old versions and try to install them, I get an error saying the installer is corrupt -and it calls it a zip archive, even though I downloaded the .bin one. What version did you download that worked? Any other advice? Thanks, Yevri |
Hello! The solution to this problem have been found and can be read on this page: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...0&pagenumber=2 |
Thanks. I actually rebooted my system and an older version did install. I used version 2.8.6 and it installed fine and is working. |
I just went back to 2.8.6 as well; I'll let whoever's in charge fix the bugs before trying a newer version, since the older one was working just fine for me. Thanks everybody for the tips! |
