Unable to Launch Java Application

Help.

Just purchased Limewire Pro and downloaded. When I attempt to open the application I receive the following messsage:

Unable to launch Java application:

Unable to locate the application "main" class. The class 'com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.main" Must be public and have a public status void main (string []) method (lax).

Any ideas?

We switched the Mac Classic installers back to 2.9.10. Please try uninstalling and reinstalling this. We keep having this problem due to incompatibility issues with java 1.1.8

Thanks

Problem

It seems the only thing between us and a working version of Limewire is finding the 2.9.10 installer. I have not received a reply from their support group or the moderator in this forum.

Any ideas?

Hi Guys

You will find the download you want at http://www3.limewire.com/download/2.9.10/. Please accept our apologies for being so slow in picking up your request for further information.

Is it me?

Thanks for the help...

I used your url address (without the typo) and it sent me to the limwire site, but I still do not see the 2.9.10 download option. Where would I find it exactly?

me, too

I also followed your upgrade advice, downloaded the new version, and the same java error message came up when trying to run the program. I then uninstalled everything, wiped everything related to Limewire into the trash, and tried again. No go, same error message. Then I tried again. Then again. And now here, where it looks like I'm not the only one that's had some problems with this.

Hopefully you guys can fix this. We're all frustrated and limewireless.

My apologies. . .

. . .for my neatness. I have this terrible habit of putting fullstops at the end of sentences and inexperienced packages can mistake them for part of the address (I'll try to remember not to do this in future). I can't improve on the spirit of Greg's advice. You need to reinstate an earlier version until the Java incompatibility is resolved. When I was on OS9.2 I have good memories of LW 2.8.6 which you will find at http://www3.limewire.com/download/2.8.6/
