9.1 MAC OS unstable?

I have stability issues with Limewire like you woun't belive. I have a new 533 Mhz G4 running MAC OS 9.1

75% or more of the time the program freezes within the first 2 minutes of running. Sometimes it's right at start up as it's getting servers. Other times it's during or after searches. No one thing seems to set it off. I ussually can force quit and re run the program and it will be a little more stable believe it or not. But at somepoint, it will freeze again. Eventualy my port input/output gets a clog nad I have to restart my whole computer.

I've tried giving it more memeory and have double check that I'm running all the "network" oriented extensions. Any ideas? How can I keep Limewire from freezing so often. I'm on a 56.6 with Earthlink and one of my theories is that I'm overloading my network socket and that it's like trying to put a tomatoe of infomraiotn through a straw!

Thanks

Well I'm on a G4 2x450's 384mb ram with 56k dial up. Limewire would not hang up connecting so much but I could never get a download connection so I abandoned it for the Furi client. Furi does freeze while establishing a host connection but once connected performs adequately. Mabe give it a try. Also I keep my host connections to three only no more. The third searches for a new host when one craps out keeping two at all times. My only issue is slow connectivity and upload download rates overall, but that is not a client based issue entirely and has to do more with other users and their connections. Good luck.
