Downloading as a Quicktime MP3

Im having problems lauching files that are being downloaded, i.e. previewing a track that hasnt been completly downloaded.

it was working fine before but has seemed to have stopped doing it because I have defaulted a different program, (not quicktime) to play as my main MP3 player. I have receantly deleted the program which was called "Jukebox" but the limewire files keep being downloaded as these new, unreadable MP3's.

All files that have been been completed and that are in the library launch with no problems in quicktime.

is this something to do with defaulting quicktime??

Cheers!!!!!!!!

On OS 9 or earlier, rebuilding the desktop or resetting the QuickTime Control Panel to Quicktime for all internet media files is easiest; examining and changing the file type setting in the File Exchange Control Panel is a bit more work, but probably the most thorough.

Irritating how the media players compete to make people dependent on their programs, isn't it?

yeah, damn right its annoying.

tried opening the file exchange control panel but it wont let me open it. also resetted all the options in quicktime settings to play everything on quicktime but still no luck.

how do u rebuild the desktop?

Simple answer--restart, and hold down command and option just before the hard disk loads.

Details http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=10182

Most utilities have an option to do this too (MicroMat has a free one http://www.micromat.com/tt_lite/tt_lite.html)

Still, if you can't open the File Exchange Control Panel, there's a bigger problem going on.

Sherlock has an option to search for invisible files--might be worth using to see if that other music program left something else behind.

Cheers

I'm having the same issue, except my files now open in itunes instead of quicktime. I cant find anything in the quicktime control panel that resets internet playback. Help me!

By the way it's doing the same things with mp3s of of Internet explorer. any ideas?
