Unable to preview or listen to new downloads. Limewire was working perfectly a while back in December, but I did a software restore and it hasn't been the same since... I can't listen to any new downloads, and Quicktime has been giving me a really hard time. I'll click on 'Launch', and nothing happens. I don't know if I'm being too vague, but if someone can help me out with what information given, that would be great. I don't know much about computers, so please be detailed! Thanks -- Destiny |
When you say "new downloads", do you mean that you can't listen files that have been fully downloaded or files that are being downloaded? Have you tried running the software update function from the System Preferences in order to get the latest version of Java? If you did and still get that I would suggest you try again to launch a file that you are downloading and then wait for a couple of minutes. If you suddenly hear it playing after a while then it means that something is taking up too much RAM and the Player is too slow. |
Thank you, I did have to wait a while before it began to play...finally. I appreciate your response! |
Similar but slightly different problem I'm running LW Pro 3.8.7 and downloading what are identified as mpe files for playback with iTunes 2.04 (Mac OS9.2.2) - I've recently downloaded two large over 100MB files that won't play on itunes, quicktime, or even an old v 2.1 version of soundjamMP. When I try to add either file to the library (itunes) or playlist (soundjam) - nothing happens. When I double click on the file icon (which says MP3) it will open either itunes or soundjam but won't show or play the file. When I click on "get info" for the files, one says itunes document, the other says soundjam document, yet nothing I do can get these files to play. I know it's not the size - I've successfully downloaded and put in the library and played files twice this size and larger. Do I just have bum downloads (they're really sweet files :) or am I doing something wrong or not doing something I should be doing? HELP:confused: Touchofgrey55 |
 100Mb ? Wow, I've never heard of any mp3s THAT big! Anyway, did you leave enough time for your iTunes to import the file? Maybe you too have to wait a bit. Also, I'm an OSX user and relatively new (compared to others in here...) so I can't really tell you what to do, sorry:p (I'll try and help as much as I can though) |
File size I've successfully downloaded mp3 file even larger - on is 202MB, others in the 150MB range, obviously complete CDs, 2 CD sets, or live concerts. The file I can't get to work is a series of small club shows by the greatest rock and roll band in the world - nuff said. I would upgrade to OSX but with a 600 MHz G3 IMac, I think it 'll slow thing down too much even though my machine "qualifies" for the upgrade. Just have to wait to get a new machine someday.
