classic mac OS installation problem

I downloaded LW 1.6 and got a Word document with a .bin filename. What do I do with this? I tried changing the creator code to APPL, but encountered a type -39 error when I ran the file.

In your preferences for Internet Explorer there is a section called file helpers. If you scroll down you will find .bin ( you have this set to Word at present, Change this to Stuffit Expander. Grab your .bin file and expand with Stuffit Expander and you will be able to install it
