limewire is slowing my cpu

Limewire runs slower than **** on my g4 laptop 800mhz with 512mb ram. it didnt used to run this way, it used to work great. That's why I bought the upgrade. Very disappointed. Wish I could go back.

Do you have the latest Java for your OS? It's very important for LW! MRJ 2.2.6 for OS 9.2.2
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120209

MRJ 2.2.5 for OS 8.1-9.2
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75097

For OSX do a software update check to see if you have the latest Java version.

Also see these threads to help optimise your connection & dwnlds: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5&pagenumber=1

Also see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27285 to as a suggestion to improve search & connection methods.

Don't have 2 p2p apps running simultaneously. One will be greedy & steal LW's bandwidth.

Hope these help.

just updated

I just got the latest java, that wasn't it. the program just runs extremely slow and uses up my cpu. It actually works, but it will freeze as soon as i search or when I select something. it will download, if I can get that far.

It could be that you have files slwoing down your computer. If you have to much junk on your comp it could slow down applicationes. Try ditching unwanted junk to see if that works. If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what your problem is.

I wish it were that simple...

Unfortunately, its not my files. I store most stuff on my external, but out of a 40gig internal drive I only have about 16gigs used. I also don't run other apps while using Limewire. I even use tech tool pro to optimize my drives. Nothing else runs slowly, just Limewire.

Try un-installing and then re -installing it. Get rid of the LW icon and folder. Then try and re-install it.
Your files will remain and will be there when LW is back.
