Moving from limewire to itunes

I have os9 and I have been looking through everything on here to help me with me problem but it has all gone wrong!!

I have the same problem as many have in the past in that my limewire no longer copies my downloaded mp3's into itunes.

I have looked at the things people have said to do to sort this out but all of them say go to preference and click on itunes etc. but my limewire doesn't have a preference tab!!

What can I do!

Please help!!

Thanks!!

Indeed. Limewire for OS9 doesn't have a Preferences tab but an Options tab. Go there and just untick the box for iTunes support; click apply and ok. Now go back there, re-tick the box and click apply. Click ok and go dld a song to see if it works.

I didn't know the OS9 version LW could copy tunes directly to iTunes from LW; ie: I didn't think this version gave iTunes full support. Learn something new everyday!

Actually, I'm not all that sure about it myself. I think I read something about it and I saw that they gave the Windows version iTunes support, so...

But they did suggest it was working for them earlier so that's a bit curious either way. Unless their other experience was in OSX.

Thanks so much for your quick response.

However, I went into limewire I went to tools and options but there is nothing in there that mentions itunes whatsoever.

Am I going completely insane!!

Any ideas?

Thanks

:-)

Oh and my other experience was in OS9 also, have never used OSX, I am far too behind the times!

I'm starting to get confused:
-isn't Tools, Options only for Windoze? In OS9, isn't it Limewire, Options?
-did it transfer your songs before?
If it did, then, if things are laid out as in OS X, iTunes should be right in b/w Player and Bug Reports.

itunes/limewire

I am going just as much insane. I used limewire a few years ago and it worked just fine with itunes, never a problem. I moved residences and went without the internet for a couple years. I just got it back and now my limewire won't recognize itunes, only quicktime which is incredibly bunk.

Which Mac os are you using? If you're using os9, then you may need to go back & make iTunes your default player. Open your File Exchange control panel. If mp3 is not listed, pess Add format & select iTunes as the default app to open these files.
If you're in OSX, there will be an iTunes option in your LW prefs. Tick the option for it.

moving from limewire to iTunes

I don't know exactly what you are doing, but I will tell you what I do to use the mp3 files that I share with other limewire users. I found the best way to get iTunes to play the files is to drag the mp3 icons from the 'shared' folder in the 'preferences' folder, inside your 'system' folder on your hard drive and drop them onto your open iTunes application; be sure to expand the iTunes window and highlight the 'library' option. This works for me, I have an iMac with OS 9.2.2 and iTunes 2.0.4. Alternatively, you could drag the mp3 icons into the 'iTunes music' folder inside the 'iTunes' folder inside the 'documents' folder that is on your hard drive. If you use the second option you may want to add the 'iTunes music' folder to the shared files in your Limewire application. I hope this has helped you; I know it's a late response to your question, and you may have already solved your problem.
