Not a sound file or not in a supported format

About 9 out of the 10 songs I try to dowload, dont seem to be songs at all? If their not in the correct format, why are they being displayed as mp3 on the screen after I search for what im looking for?
I do the search , find a good quanity to choose from , start the download
donwload is complete, attemp to drag the file to my player and it tells me that this is not a sound file or not in a supported format. Does anyone know if I can change the format or how I can download the correct one ? Thanks

Chances are they are ORB format, mp4 or other!!! Dare I suggest it, but a super audio app that will play pretty much everything & is free is QCD: http://www.quinnware.com/ If you kike it, you might even want to make it your default audio player.

I beat u 2 the post Peerless but I decied to delete it after editing b/c of slow contact. Like my brain sometimes. lol

My system is mac os8.6 , I tried to get that other player but it requires at least mac 9.0. And im not quite sure what B.S is ??

Whoah! Xcuse the facial xressions. I must admit I was using LW on os 8.5 just 5 mths or so ago. Yes OS9 is becoming more & more limited when it comes to the newer mp3 formats b/c everybody has now stopped developing for os9 or earlier. My best suggestion is Audion which can play Orb, etc, that iTunes can't even play. The newest version is 3 which I think also recognises the new mp3 format whatever it's called 'super mp3' or whatever!

Haven't been checking posts lately, sorry. I run OS9 on my mac. Have you thought about trying SoundAppPPC? Until the advent of "X" and the mp4 formats, it was probably one of the best free sound converters ever made for mac. I haven't used it for awhile; but, anything is worth a shot these days.

P.S. SoundAppPPC came out a while back but was updated and should work with OS8.6. By the way 8.6 was the best "work horse" OS put out by mac. Not a speed demon, but definitely reliable. Use it as long as you can.

I haven't used SoundApp since OS8.5 but a good suggestion. I just realised I made a mistake in my 1st post, I think the QCD is windows only, a slip up.
Using such an early OS & probably an earlwer version of Java, a not uncommon problem is for Java (I suspect the culprit) to strip the files of their identity. If not that then it's of course not having an app that recognises that particular mp3/4 format.
I should have added it'd be best to drag & drop these blank files onto the app, be that soundapp, Audion, etc. But perhaps Audion requires os8.6 (it's called os9 version but it can be used in earlier os's - according to their website.) My favourite for 8.5 was SoundJam MP but that went out of production couple years ago. Their team went to work on the Apple iTunes team.
