limewire install isn't opening.

I am running on OS9.2 and it sucks, and stuff. I have one version of installed open-able limewire, but I haven't downloaded the update in forever, so it won't connect or download anything. So, I downloaded the update, and when I double click to install it, I get an error messege saying, "LimeWireMac.bin cannot be opened because the application that created this document could not be found."
I have a feeling it might be a computer issue, because I've gotten that error messege before, but I'm not sure because I know close to nothing about computers, ha.

Update your Stuffit Expander. Drag & drop the bin file to expander (don't double-click it.) Update your Java: MRJ 2.2.5 for OS 8.1-9.2 or else: MRJ 2.2.6 for OS 9.2.2 & also see this thread about OS 9 hints: Here for OS 9 hints with LW (click on link)

After installing softw it's always a good idea to re-build your desktop. ie: re-start your computer whilst holding down the Apple (Command) & Option keys. It's a healthy thing to do at least monthly.

Also some hints on optimising LW: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints.

i'm running a 9.2.2 updated my MRJ to 2.2.6.

i can download the .bin file, can get the installer, but when i click on the installer to run it, the bar fills up and nothing is installed.

i've been trying a few things like, pulling it off my router and all of that, but no dice.

any ideas people?

To my knowledge the OS 9 installer is a standalone installer. If it's not working then either there was an error in dwnlding the installer or there's an issue with your comp. I'd suggest you check your comp over with disk 1st aid & any 3rd party utilities such as norton, TechTool Pro, DiskWarrior, etc. Then re-dwnld the installer. If issues again, re-start with all extensions off. Then try installing. After installling rebuild the desktop.
