Direct Connect/Browse Host

Ever since I upgraded my Limewire to version 4.4.5 I can no longer direct connect or properly browse a host.

In the past, these features worked quite well for me. Now, when I attempt to carry out either action, the only results I see are for those files which I already have in my own shared folder, nothing else.

What perplexes me is that, prior to upgrading, these functions worked perfectly. I'm browsing some of the same IP's but with entirely different results than I had a week ago.

Can anyone explain what's going on?

I' operating in a Mac environment, OSX.3.5 with a DSL connection. The exact same setup as a week ago. The only difference is I'm running on an iMacG5 now as opposed to my iBook G4.

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.

gharvx--see if the firewall is opened for LimeWire on the new machine. (OS X Preferences->Sharing->Firewall->Other). Maybe your new setup is blocking incoming requests.

As far as I can tell here, browse gives the usual same inconsistent results, mostly because browse requests are given a lower priority than file transfers (so if the host's upload slots are full, the browse will fail).

Thanks for the reply.

Incoming requests are... well, incoming - and files are being shared successfully from my end.

Nor am I having problems with downloading from generalized searches - that works fine. It's just making direct connections that isn't working.

I know it sounds implausible, but literally nothing has changed (other than my version of Limewire) from the way I used to be set up. Same internet setup, same general settings on my computer, I think I may even be wearing the same underwear (okay not the underwear, but everything else is true ;)).

Again, in case I wasn't clear enough before... I do get results when I attempt a direct connect - the problem is that the only results which show in the list are files which I already have.

I guess another strange thing with all this is that these direct connect attempts (which only show files I already have) show the greatest number of results per file than any other search I perform.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but like I said - I'm no expert.

Hahaha reminds me of Peerless & a few others who can find their own files in their searches. lol I can't even get 2 LW's working on the same computer simultaneously to find each others files. (ie: one in OSX & the other in VPC 2k.) http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoti.../happy/028.gif http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoti.../happy/019.gif
