All of a sudden I can't connect

Up untill yesterday I could connect and use Limewire with pretty good success. Now all of a sudden it either crashes on startup or loads but doesn't connect. I haven't added any new software nor done anything unusual to my DV 400 iMac with 192 MB Ram. I have followed
advice that I see posted on this forum, but nothing is working for me yet. Any ideas?

Me too!

I'm having the same problem too... Maybe is has something to do with what happened on Tuesday?

i had that same problem until i tried to install the newest version. lol, now THAT's the problem. i can't install the latest version because of this "error type -39" that i keep getting whenever i open the installer. so now i can't install 1.6, and i can't connect with the original. this all happened long before tuesday as well, lol. now i'm stuck with aimster until someone can figure this out.

limewire crashes

I am still running limewire fine from a zip disk the problem is not 0s 9.2 or world events i think limewire 1.6 has a programming error and needs rewriting.

If you have a zip drive log on to your provider click the limewire installer and select your zip drive as the place to install too by clicking choose button on the instalation screen.

use a blank formatted zip and you can download upto 90mb of information the startup screen is slow but if you are patient the programme loads and runs without any extra memory being required simply dragging files out of the shared folder onto your hard drive and then deleting the files in the shared folder on the zip disk gives you all the download space back.

I am geussing but I think the limewire programme is having trouble locating a port on our hard drives to connect through and that the zip solution is being read as a second drive. Someone will soon figure this out and update limewire to 1.7 or 1.8 I hope.

Ditto what everyone else has said. I am on a G4 500 with 640MB RAM running OS 9.1 on a T1 connection. I was using an older version of LimeWire.Yesterday was my first attempt to connect to Lime Wire in a week or so. I was able to connect to LimeWire, but when I attempted to switch from "search" to "connections" to "monitor", LimeWire would freeze. I just downloaded and installed the most recent version of LimeWire and cannot launch it without freezing. I hope someone finds a solution to this.

I have had the same problems for a week now. But a couple of times I got a message that said the port could not be found. I also can't connect thru Mactella or MacSatellite. My friend with a PC has no problems with Limewire right now. Is there generic problem with Mac access to Gnutella?

I started this thread about Limewire and I still can't connect a week later. However, I now can easily connect ( about 75 % of the time which seems pretty good to me) with Mactella, which used to be impossible for me. Again, I have not added any new software nor hardware. I know this doesn't help, I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still here and appreciate the replies.

Possible Answer?

I got it to work today! I did the same thing as usual, it looked like nothing was going to happen. Then I got busy with something else for about half an hour. When I came back, it was up and running fine. I searched and downloaded a tune just like normal. Maybe it just takes a long time to connect. Unlike Mactella.

I am having the same problems, either the program crashes immediately after it is loaded and i have to restart the computer, or it will give the tease and then crash. have you all just gone to Mactella? I just don't want to waste my time and have that do the same thing. Can you just transfer your library from limewire to Mactella, once you download Mactella?
