im running mac os 10.3.9.
i sucessfully installed limewire, but it wont open. p get the little "loading html" screen then it "quits" before it ever opens.
i did the java update and still no luck.
am i the only fella having this problem? ive been scanning the mesage boards but it seems all the "fixes" are a bit old and dont work.
Thanx

Have you been here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/support.shtml & check the far right links! ;)

of course....

of course i did
even did the optional stuff on apple's page after continued failed attempts
i cant even guess what the proble is, i still get the "limewire has unexpectantly quit"

ALthough you think you've tried everything, there's other options still you may not have tried. Including re-installing Mac os 10.3.9 using the standalone installer; ie: not over the internet but installed from your comp.

yep tried that

yep tried it
my dad has a g4 usin 10.3.9 with the same limewire problem so i assume this isnt a problem with just me.
i dunno if its apple or limewire who has to step to the plate here, but i wish they would, i liked limewire.....

Mac performance

I just installed LimeWire 4.9 and am experiencing the same thing, the app quitting before it loads. Let me know if you find the answer to this one. Thanks.

I just installed Jave Update for Mac OS X v10.3.9, and guess what, it still doesn't work. Please pass along any suggestions. Thanks.

1. 10.3.9 issues

2. Can't launch LW: Bouncing in Dock (click on link) & reinstall using Mac OS 10.3.9 combo update: OS 10.3.9 Combo installer (click on link)

3. Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption

4. java 1.4.2 update: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html

5. Try deleting your LW preferences whilst LW is closed; found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

1. 10.3.9 issues

-ive been up & down that list. installed, updated and disected that list.

2. Can't launch LW: Bouncing in Dock (click on link) & reinstall using Mac OS 10.3.9 combo update: OS 10.3.9 Combo installer (click on link)

-although i didnt have this problem (bouncing icons and such) i reinstalled anyways. what a waste of time.

3. Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption

-this is the one that really had me worried.
again up and down, cleaned cahes, downloaded programs ect ect ect

4. java 1.4.2 update: http://www.apple.com/downloads/maco...aupdate142.html

-installer said i didt need it. said i had a version that did "not have to be updated"

5. Try deleting your LW preferences whilst LW is closed; found here: /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire

-last ditch effort. nothing again.

my father and i AND an aqqaintance of our all seem to have this problem on our 10.3.9s, if it was just me, id feel better knowing it was something wrong with MY computer only.

i dont know who dropped the ball here. Apple for not realizing despite their java fixes/updates they still havent fixed this problem or limewire for not stepping up to the plate and makin this work for us MAC users.

objectively i dont see why this dosent work. 2005 man and we're struggling with this?

either way im bummed. ive been quite the limewire lovin fiend in my time. guess i just gotta wait till a fix happens.

I'm sorry to hear the combo install or any of the other fixes didn't do the job. The reason you can't re-install Java is because in your receipts folder, there's a file there that tells OSX it's already installed. What you need to do is remove that file so you can re-install. See the * NOTE: at the bottom of the 1st link in suggestion 2. above. It shows image samples of the receipts folder & the Java versions listed.

BTW did you try the Jum version?
