Angry iTunes won't read the mp3's

I was happy to find LimeWire, but I have had no success in transferring the mp3's from the default "Shared" folder injto my iTunes folder for playing. The computer doesn't even acknowledge them. Any ideas? I have 1.7.

For iTunes to recognize your files, they need to have a Mac file type and creator code that iTunes understands.

Since iTunes is really nothing but Cassady & Greene SoundJam MP with an Aqua interface, it should read SoundJam files. (I prefer SoundJam to iTunes.)

The Creator code is SJAM and the File Type is MPG3.

One thing I did find out is that neither iTunes or SoundJam will recognize files with MP3 V2 tags encoded using the new 2.4 standard.

Suggest you download MP3 Rage. It can edit File Type & Creator codes as well as MP3 tags.

I use itunes 2.0 and whenever i dowload a mp3 from Limewire I use an application called iTunes Associator 1.6 . It is great since it will convert all my mp3 files to itunes, so whenever I double click them they will automatically open in itunes. This file can be found at download.com and searching for the term iTunes Associator. Its nice and simple to use. I hope this helped. If you have any more questions E-Mail me at KDGE@mac.com
