AIFFs to mp3s --- for a newbie

I'm trying to figure out how to convert my CDs (700+) to mp3s for sharing with all you wonderful kids out there on my mac.

What's a good (free) program to do this??
Earthlink support is, of course, no freakin' help.

Mac MP3's

You can find tons of info including downloads to programs (some free, some shareware) at
http://www.mp3-mac.com/
They have MP3 players, rippers, encoders ... etc.
