QuickTime 7.0.4 bug stops LimeWire from opening! Ouch. No easy solution yet; this problem looks like an issue for a new thread. Developers of other java apps are noting a new conflict with the QuickTime 7.0.4 Update and 10.3.9, and the solutions to the previous problem don't work this time. I haven't found a link to a practical fix so far. Quicktime 7.0.4 kills Java application Here's the link to an uninstaller Quicktime 701 Reinstaller for Quicktime 7.0.4 |
On the Final Cut Pro forum, the attitude is always a wait & see approach, re: updating QuickTime. Better to wait & see whether it's safe to update. It's not uncommon for updates of QT to have some kind of bug. |
This QT upgrade appears to be the problem! I have just returned to QT 7.01 from 7.04 and lo and behold my limewire is back! Now seems to be working fine, these Apple upgrades should come with a health warning! How are novice users meant to know the implications of these upgrades? Thanks for the info. A |
I have QT 7.1.3 (or something simmilar) and Limewire STILL won't open. |
Limewire and Quicktime I have Quicktimer Pro 7.5. Can this application also be stifling Limewire? |
Doubtful. This post about a QT bug is from 2 1/2 years ago |
Then the laugh's on me. I can work the 14.8 and I inadvertently god rid of my former version. |
Limewire 4.18 Excuse please, I cannot use Limewire 4.18 |
Older Limewire version. Can anyone recommend a site that can offer a Limewire version earlier than 10.8? I've been looking all over, and can't find a site that won't send me to the 10.8 website when I ask for a different version? |
joyss see if Lime Wire » Download Out-Of-Date Installers helps |
Out-of-date Limewire Thanks. And what a story! I went to the site and clicked to download 4.1.2. A message told me that this would erase the 4.1.8 that was installed. I continued. Then a message appeared that there was nothing to download. So I tried to download onto my LaCie disk. This worked, but it was the strangest thing. It downloaded 4.1.6 Pro, which I had previously before I mistakenly erased it. There are gremlins at work. (*_*) |
To install an older version, there's a file in the main OSX Library that needs to be removed first. Open the hard drive, open the Library folder, then Receipts, then delete the file called "Install LimeWire.pkg" Now you can install an older version. |
There's no need. I'm working Limewire Pro 4.1.6 from my Roxio drive. I think that the hard disk backup on the Roxio allows this to happen. Thanks. |
