Can't seem to download

So, here it goes

I'm brand new in the mac world and have been trying to figure out how to download limewire for the past few days and have been reading this site for pointers but still can't figure it out - here's my situation

I'm running OSX v. 10.4.7 and trying to download the latest version of limewire (which I believe is 4.12.6). I go to download it and all seem to go fine, but when it says the "download is complete", I go to click on the new button on my desktop for limewire and it simply takes me back to the downloading option that says I need to download. So i'm not sure that the download is working at all, or maybe I just don't know where to look for it? Any help or suggestions would be amazing

Yep ... trash Explorer as it's not totally OSX compatible & can't handle dmg files which is the format most osx installer programs are in. Instead, go to your applications folder & find Safari & download LW again with that program.

clarification

Ok, I'm really not that great with computers, and I thought I was using safari to download LW. If I use safari as my browser and choose the OSX option to download should that work? or is there something more or different I need to do?
once again, the help is greatly appreciated

i'm having the same problem that's been described in the first post. installation seems to run smoothly but when it's finished and i attempt to re-open it, i get taken back to the first installation phase. i think i am using safari as well, so i don't know what the problem could be. help!

Once you have installed, close the installer. Then open the LW program you installed. There's usually an option to open LW immediately after installing.

Hi Shesonfire

All I did was instead of using the automatic button that appears on the desktop or task bar is to go to the hard drive icon, click on applications, and open your limewire from there. You can move it to the desktop from the applications folder as well

Better idea is to drop LW into the Dock which is how I have it. Another option is to create an alias & put that onto the desktop; select the program & command L or another idea is to use a launcher menu program ... I like using Butler (free/donateware)[/url]
