Communication & negotiation is the best approach rather than sneekily going behind their backs & blocking their activities without their knowledge. Such as the suggestion to use late at night instead of during daytime hours.

well

1. We have already talked about it and they refuse to stop downloading
2. I pay for the internet and let them use it and they are abusing my niceness and its only fair on the other people that they can use the internet for work and i would only be blocking the service from 10 am till 10pm they are free to download overnight

So at exactly 10 am & 10 pm every single day you will block/unblock the ports? I should imagine that will become tedious. The port LW normally uses is port 6346. However they may well change the port within their program so I suspect that will not be the answer. Another answer might be LimeKill which was designed by an Australian. Look over at the General Gnutella Development Discussion forum section & you'll find it. It would be possible to set it to run at certain times I should imagine. Particularly using applescript or another utility/system timing setting. If you know how to use applescript then it should be easy for you. ;)

Cheers mate, i was just going to use client ip filtering thats built into my router which you can set to block and unblock ports at various times. Just i tried it and it would only block the pcs and not the macs so i figured macs used a different port
