Have a look though the sticky below. It has heaps of info & solutions for connection problems
Connection problems? Check here first!

Start off by making sure that you're only using 1 software firewall & that it's configured properly. If none of the info helps, post back with details of your setup etc. Post #2 of that sticky tells you the details that we need.

Pro won't connect.

I've tried all I know how before asking for help.
My setup:
Mac G4/500mhz/Sonnet Tempo upgrade to 1.2ghz/1 GB RAM/500 GB Seagate Barracuda ATA133/Sonnet Tempo ATA133 PCI/Netgear 10-100-1000 PCI Ethernet card/Dynex p2p enabled router/Bellsouth Fast Access DSL Xtreme 3mps with Static IP/Home connection (USA)/

Mac OS 10.4.9/Safari/Limewire Pro 4.04/Java 1.4.2.

I did the suggested test and got 'Your test worked!'. Not sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs. No brick wall. This is a new problem and I've been using LW for years.

Firewall is turned on with Limewire accepted at Port 6346 on both UDP and TCP. Little Snitch has Limewire Allowed to Port 80, Port 6346 and to 'any network connection'.

Okay, here is what happened:
I had a drive crash because of bad blocks. Lost everything. Got a new drive and cloned everything to it from a backup drive. Limewire wouldn't work. Everything looked right but it wouldn't connect and finally timed out. I tried everything I could think of to no avail.

Finally I gave up, cleaned out everything having to do with LW and reinstalled. It installed just fine and the Wizard came up and also worked just fine. But LW won't work, just as before.

My gut feeling is that it has to do with the Ethernet PCI card. However, Safari and other Internet-dependent connections work without a hitch. Local networking to another computer also works well.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

Try disabling OSX's firewall to see if you can connect. IF that fails, try removing whichever devices you are able to between your computer & the connection. eg: by-pass the router. Else go thru router & by-pass any other devices you are using.
