Just how SLOW can it go!!!
 

Hi, just upgraded to LW 4.12 a few days ago, and I'm trying to download some tv shows.... It's loading at a rate of 2 to 20 ko... Thats when it doesnt CRASH... every 20 or 30 minutes! The problem is I got high speed internet via cable and I'm downloading from T3 and T1....So seems to be a big problem somewhere and I dont know how to fix it. I run on MAC OSX, 10.3.9, G4 Quicksilver 933, 1.5 Gig of ram and 2 hard drives for a total 260G.
Can anyone give me a hand...please!!! I'm not a novice, been using LW for a few years now... but this latest version...is using up a lot of my time!!

General maintenance is needed by the sounds of it. Try running Disk Utility, & if you have them: Norton Utilities, TechTool Pro & DiskWarrior. Also important to do these things: SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions.

* Reduce your shares to below 2,000

* Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!

* Don't use an external drive for sharing. The QuickSilver doesn't seem to be very good at using it. I have a QuickSilver myself & have had problems with external firewire drives for sharing with LW & other p2p programs.
