Limewire won't connect on my Mac anymore!!!
 

A few weeks ago, my Limewire just stopped connecting. I can open the program fine, but now it doesn't connect anymore. It just sits there and does nothing. I tried downloading a newer version of Limewire (4.0), but it just won't connect. Help! Below is my info.

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Mac OS 8.6
2. What firewalls you have? None
3. How much ram? 192 MB (I think)
4. Hard Disk space available? 2 Gig
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 56k modem dialup
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Not sure
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? Apartment
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.0
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Local service
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It worked!
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? No
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Not sure
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? None
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA!

Try deleting your LW preferences folder whilst LW is CLOSED. The prefs folder is found here: Macintosh HD/System Folder/Preferences/.limewire

If you put your preferences folder into List view mode, you should find it at the top of the folder listing.

That doesn't work at all. Tried it a couple times already. And once you re-launch Limewire, it creates a brand new preferences folder since you are starting over.

That's what it's supposed to do. Create a fresh set of LW preferences.

You really should be looking at updating your mac os. And make sure you have the latest Java for OS 8.6 -> Mac OS Runtime for Java 2.2.5: Information and Download

With dial up you have to be very, very patient for LW to connect. Sometimes up to an hour. If not connect then, then close it & re-open it. :)

Dear LimeWire Sirs:

From days ago when I search a song. The list of songs almost all came not with the "starts raiting" but with the "trash" raiting. Even those that inidicate a good number of users had the song. This I verifyed and is the same with ANY searching song. Not ALMOST. But ANY.

Days ago start the problem in the window search of Limewire. But I could download with no problem the available (all trash) and at the end good quality.

But from yesterday all the down loads try keep stopped as "Need More Sources". Any searching song.

My Computer is a Macintosh G4
My System is Mac OS 10.4.10
My LimeWire is 4.12 (*)

(*) Beacuse after several failures trying installing the newst version of LimeWire. Finally this old version could be installed

Go to your LW prefs, Filters -> Junk & turn the dial about 90% to the left. If you still get good files with trash icon, check their file size & title. Be sure they are junk. IF not, then select them & press Not Junk button.

I do not know what to do I have a cable modem limited firewall and all i ever get is connecting to limewire but i never actually connect what do i do?

Give us some system & set up details for a start; System details - help us to help you (click on blue link) then we can try to see if we can find a solution. :)
