Default Can't install older version of Limewire

I downloaded the new version of Limewire for Mac...4.14.8 and had all sorts of problems with freezing and crashing so I want to run an older version instead. I used Appzapper to uninstall and deleted the installer and the library preferences files but when I try to install the older version it says "The chosen volume contains software which is newer then the software you are installing. Installing this software will replace the newer version with an older version." Then when I click Continue and Install it says "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install." I tried repeating this process with a number of different versions with the same result. Anyone have some advice? Thanks!
