Limewire deletes files from Hard DRive

I recently downloaded the 2.1 Version for MAC. The shared folder of my earlier version 1.7 was not transfered to the updated version. BUT the worse thing that happened was that I tried to add a new folder to share and accidently added my documents folder. I pressed the "Delete folder" command from the File menu and guess what, IT DELETED THE FOLDER FROM MY HARD DRIVE! I am seriously ****ed. Not only did it wipe out all my documents, it also wiped out all the music that I downloaded from the previous version. WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?

a very disappointed user.

Bummer. The Delete item should bring up an "Are you sure" dialog before deleting (at least for folders). For your data, if you have Norton Utilities, TechTool or similar, run the Trash back or similarly named tool to see if you can recover some files. In general when you accidentally delete something you should leave your computer alone as the data is still on the drive as long as another file hasn't overwritten it yet. Backing up is a good thing.

You can quit other media apps that are open including iTunes, RealPlayer, etc. and then delete the files in the library. You can avoid quitting anything by just deleting the files from the Finder.
